Broken Desalination
Broken Desalination is HoloMemory sample No. 26 in The Last Caretaker.
The child isn't helping because there's nothing useful left to do. They're all waiting to find out whether fresh water is still possible. The machine has grown too important, more important than dignity, conversation, or even fear. When it stops, the whole room is forced to revolve around it.
Two adult subjects stand around a damaged desalination unit. One child subject stands nearby holding an empty water container.
