Small Birthday
Small Birthday is HoloMemory sample No. 36 in The Last Caretaker.
The food is a ration cake, but it's too small be considered a true cake in the proper sense. The flame is weak, but it's the best they could do to serve as a birthday candle. None of it matters. For a moment, they forced the day to become a birthday, not another day of collapse. Adults do this for children. They build a ceremony out of almost nothing and pray the children can feel happy for a little while longer.
Child subject seated in between two adult subjects. A single food placement and a flame source is positioned on a surface between them.
