He locked himself in the cold because it was the last thing the station could still offer him: a little time. His experiments weren't merely research, and what happened wasn't just an accident. Something had been grown in his lab, a thing that couldn't be contained. The most terrible part is not that he died alone. It is that, before the end, he could hear it outside the chamber… and knew it was listening too.
